Eugene Howard Harvey, 92
Okeechobee – Eugene Howard Harvey passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was born September 18, 1928 in Tupper Lake, New York. He was a resident of Okeechobee for 33 years.
Mr. Harvey’s great passion was being a barber for over 40 years. He opened his first barbershop in Pompano, Florida and then he opened another shop in Lauderhill, Florida. When he relocated to Okeechobee, he was blessed to have barbered at Barney’s Barber Shop. He retired shortly after in 1991 due to a cancer diagnosis. After he survived cancer, he lived a great life of retirement.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his loving daughter and caretaker of more than 23 years, Sharon Lopez (Danny), of Okeechobee; children, David Harvey (Maureen), of California, Rose Torrelli, of Georgia, and Carol Bartok, of Trenton, Florida; four grandchildren, Charlene Blomefield, of Okeechobee, Traci Jones, of Georgia, Leyna Peters, of Newberry, Florida, and Sarah Jett, of Alabama; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Nyaira, Kimora, Luna, Lil David “Buddy”, Alexis, Lazarus, and Damie.
