Eugene “Gene” Null, 84, of New Buffalo, Michigan died Friday morning, December 15, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Null was born October 24, 1922, in Herrin, Illinois to Nicholas and Grace (Alexander) Null. He served his country in the US Army as a Tank Captain during WWII, participating in all the major battles, including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Null was recently awarded a Special Diploma from France in recognition of his contribution to the liberation of that country during the war. On December 22, 1946, he married Lucille McKinnies in Herrin.

Mr. Null was employed as a paint sprayer at Studebaker, South Bend, Indiana; Clark Equipment Company, Michigan City, Indiana; and Weldon International, Bridgman.

Mr. Null was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Bridgman. He enjoyed playing his guitar, and fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Survivors include his wife, Lucille; children, Ronald (Geri) Null of Goreville, Illinois; Randy Null of New Buffalo; Daniel (Gladys) Null of Buchanan; Terry (Karen) Null of Louisville, Kentucky; Debra Null of New Buffalo; Tammy (Steve) Allard of Modesto, California and Rogey (Cynthia) Null of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
