Eugene C. Irvine, Jr., (1959-2021), passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on September 14, 2021 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Eugene was the son of Mary E. (Lyons) Irvine and Eugene C. Irvine, Sr., of Waltham. He is survived by his five brothers, and several nieces and nephews. Eugene was a proud husband to his wife Joan (McElligott) Irvine of 42 years, father to his sons Christopher Irvine and Eugene Irvine III, daughter Margaret McKee and son in law Richard McKee of Plymouth. He was a proud grandfather of Grant, Brian and soon to be Sean. Eugene served in the US Coast Guard, ran his own business Gene Irvine, Jr., Plumbing, taught several plumbing courses at The Peterson School, volunteered for the Town of Plymouth Softball team, Plymouth North High School Softball teams, Plymouth North Robotics Team, Boy Scouts Troop 9 and Labs for Rescue. Eugene was employed as a Captain by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department for over 25 years. Everyone who was lucky enough to meet Eugene knew how much he loved his family. Eugene loved traveling with his wife, bike riding, walking his chocolate lab Rooney, kayaking, and was an avid New England sports fan. He was proud to be a veteran and serve his country, he was a member of the American Legion Post 40.
