Eugene A. (Gene) Lohmann, 93, passed away March 6, 2012. Father of Elizabeth Ann Lohmann and Barbara Veatch; brother of August; sister-in-law Eleanor Hudson; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Edith and brother Vincent. Gene was a Lt. Col. USAF and a B17 pilot with the 452nd. Bomb group. He was so loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Gene was born in Collinsville, IL and after serving in WWII moved to Columbus, OH where he lived for the next 56 years, moving to Centennial, CO in 2001.
Gene enjoyed playing many sports throughout his life. He was on bowling leagues for decades and when he was 90 bowled 9 strikes in a row! He enjoyed golfing and senior baseball and was a huge horse racing enthusiast. He loved the mountains and camping and had a terrific sense of adventure. He traveled to many parts of the world and enjoyed 3 weeks touring China when he was 89.
He was a devoted family man and was married 59 years when his beloved wife, Edith passed away.
