Etsuko Miki Vigil, age 81, of Torrance, CA passed away Friday, November 25, 2016.

She was born in Miyazaki Japan where she met and married the love of her life. Thus began a life time of travel adventures as a military wife in the Army. Etsuko left Japan when she was 20 to come to America. As an Army spouse she traveled quite often with her five children in tow to the next base and that included going overseas twice to Okinawa, Japan. She was a very kind, gentle, compassionate, loving soul with a generous heart to match. She always had kind words for everyone and never had a mean or harsh feeling towards anyone. She was loved by everyone that she met and knew her. She showed all of us how to live life as it should be. She had many talents and passions. Those included cooking, sewing, and doll making. She could look at a picture, make a pattern and within a few days we would have new dress. Her Japanese dolls were all hand stitched and were a true work of art. The kimonos on them were truly incredible and none can match hers.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Donaciano Manuel Vigil who passed on Sunday, October 5, 2014. They were both residents of Torrance, CA at the time of their passing. She is survived by her children, Rita Wiltberger (David Sole), Donaciano Vigil (Mary), Veronica Gaugler (Richard), Gloria Blacketer (Steven), Maria Reineking (Vernon); 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews here and in Japan.
