Ethleen Skeen of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away on August 25, 2015 at the age of 92 with family members by her side.
She was born in Flomaton, Alabama on March 19, 1923. Ethleen took pride in being the wife of a military officer and raising her family.
Ethleen was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Kenneth Skeen, stepson Michael Skeen and stepdaughter Sandra Skeen. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Gilbert Leatherwood, Phillip Leatherwood and Malcolm Leatherwood.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Mitchell of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Cynthia Kirkemo and husband Lawrence of Destin, Florida and Suzanne Brown of Hensley, Arkansas. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Debra Roesberry of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Grandchildren are George Mitchell Jr., Amy Mitchell, Alanna Boswell, Hunter Brown, Dylon Brown and Bradley Mitchell (great grandson). Step grandchildren include Brandon Skeen, Mark Watson, Eric Roesberry, Scott Roesberry, Ellen Knepple and Skye Firestone.
Ethleen had a special love for her home and entertaining. She also loved music, especially gospel songs. Her ultimate love was for Christ our Savior, and she drew her strength from his presence in her life.
Ethleen was blessed to have many caring and supportive friends in her life. A special thanks to her dear friend and loving caregiver, Cheryl Moore, whose presence in her life enabled her to continue residing in her home during the last years of her life.
