Ethel Lene Phillips Jackson, the youngest of her siblings, was born to the late Cora and Frank Phillips on July 8, 1966 in Manila. On May 9, 2022, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, her eternal Father picked Ethel from our midst and moved her to her eternal home. She is now with her parents, Cora and Frank Phillips; her grandparents, Hattie and Willie Phillips and Cornelia Washington; and her sisters, Mary Phillips and Clearetta Abston.
Ethel began her early Christian journey as a child at Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manilla. She served as the church secretary and in any capacity in which she was needed. She received her education in the Clarke County School System and was part of the Jackson High School graduating Class of 1984. Friendly, kind, generous, with a truly humble spirit, only begin to describe the wonderful woman that Ethel was. She was blessed with many friends and had time for them all, including her club members, the Red Hatters, and the customers she served selling Avon.
Ethel leaves to treasure her life her devoted husband of 35 years, Willie Jackson; two sons, Kenneth Phillips of Jackson and Adrian Jackson of Gainestown; four grandchildren, Matthias, Dillion, Braylon and Karter; five sisters, Lee Fields of Allston, Mass., Carrie Taylor of Jackson, Faye Hunt of Alma, Annie Phillips of Mobile and Shellie Pugh of Toddtown; two brothers, Frank (Rutha) Phillips of Camden and Fred Portis of Suggsville; sisters-in-law, Justine (James) Clarke, Claudia (J.C.) Rocker and Bernice (John) Peoples, all of Barlow Bend, Fannie (Michael) White of Alma and Lucy Jackson of Gainestown; also sharing her memories are a host of nephews, nieces and many, many friends.
