Ethel Jean Swindler, 76, passed away December 1, 2012 in Canon City, CO. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on December 9, 1935 to William H. and Esther Ernestine (Reibsamen) Wooff. While attending high school, Ethel was very active in athletics. She was united in marriage to James L. Swindler on June 25, 1966 in Mt. Vernon, IA; he preceded her in death. They moved to Canon City in 1976. She was a selfless, devoted wife and mother. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great source of joy to her. She was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed bowling, and was a big supporter of 4-H. Family and friends will always remember being treated to her fresh baked cookies, cakes, and other homemade desserts. Ethel is survived by her children, James Swindler and Kari Sronce; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. A special “Thank You” goes to Ethel’s care-provider and dear friend, Helen Carter.
