Ethel Florence (Hock) Farnsworth lived for over 102 wonderful, adventure filled years. She was born Feb. 9, 1920, to Frank and Barbara (Benedix) Hock in Detroit, MI and died in her sleep on Saturday morning, Dec. 10th in her Boise, ID home.

After graduating from McGaw Normal School, Merrimack, NH in 1937, Ethel earned her BS Degree from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI in Home Economics. She taught school in Michigan and used her knowledge and experience to help foreign refugees adapt to life in Idaho.

Ethel and Ken Farnsworth Sr. married on June 18, 1942; which they celebrated on the 18th of every month for 69 years. Ken Sr. died on August 7, 2011 in Boise, ID. They had an amazing marriage raising eight children, 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren… so far! They drove motor homes throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and traveled the world including mainland China in 1983 with “People to People”. Ken and Ethel spent many winters in Yuma, AZ where they enjoyed their “Yuma” friends.

Ethel and Ken introduced Rhodes Bread to Idaho first.
Ethel was grateful for her family, friends, neighbors, postmen, garbage men, delivery people, cleaners, care givers, home improvement and landscape experts. There are so many thoughtful, hardworking people who made it possible for her to stay in her own home. She immensely enjoyed her friends in her book clubs, mahjong, writing and exercise groups. She loved entertaining, swimming, gardening, canaries and feeding the wild birds and squirrels.

Ethel was pre deceased by her parents, Frank Peter Hock, Barbara Ann Benedix Hock, her husband, Ken Farnsworth Sr. and three sisters, Lillian Mae, Arline Pearl, Pearl Arline , one daughter-in-law, Zoe Ann (Johnson) Farnsworth, three son-in-laws, Robert Larsen, Marshall Sage and Steve Bomkamp.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Ken Farnsworth Jr. (Christine), Kathleen Noh (Laird), Holly Flaming (Doug), Frank Farnsworth (Sue), Karen Farnsworth, David Farnsworth (Zane), Mark Farnsworth (Julie), Kate Farnsworth and all her grandchildren.
