Ethel Ashburn Lambrecht, 95, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on September 21, 2015.
She was born to the late Garland Ashburn and Mabel Courtney Ashburn, on October 3, 1919, in Baker, Florida. A graduate of Florida State College for Women (FSCW). She was a retired Bureau Chief with the Florida Department of Labor, Bureau of Unemployment Compensation. She was the first female State Bureau Chief in the Southeastern United States. She attended Freedom Church First Assembly of God. She loved her family dearly and received much pleasure from helping people and took pride in having the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed gathering with family at Chick-Fil-A on Saturday mornings. Above all, she loved her Lord. She is survived by her children, Claude E. “Sooner” Shipley, (wife, Judy), Richardo E. “Ryck” Shipley, (wife, Kenney); grandchildren Art (Kim) Shipley, Gene (Lori) Shipley, Kathy (Bob) Small, Rick Shipley, Chris (Melody) Shipley, Carolyn Shipley, Holly (Dane) Nichols and Alyssa Shipley; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Addison, Chase, Hayley, Chandler, Turner, Fletcher, Drew, Ryan, Krystal, Brennan, Kerstyn, Lauklan, Greyson, Aislinn, Bay, Devin, Jarom, Ammon, and Omner; brothers, William G. Ashburn, David C. Ashburn and Robert C. Ashburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sim Lambrecht, and siblings, Grover Cleveland Ashburn, Flora Cooksey, Syble Ashburn Daniels, Vernie Johnson, Lois Spiva, Lyndall Ashburn, and Pansy Shoemaker.
