Etcyl “Dale” Thurman, age 75, of E. Washington Street, Grafton, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011, at Grafton City Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Hilda, Missouri, December 27, 1935, a son of the late Bryan William Thurman and Betha Ellen (Roberts) Thurman. He is survived by his best friend, caretaker, and partner of 36 years, Fred Wolfe. Dale was a 1954 graduate of Rich Hill High School, he was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army, and a Baptist by faith. He was retired from Dr. Scholl’s company, where he was trained as a “foot doctor” and managed a Dr. Scholl’s store in Birmingham, Alabama. He also previously managed a Walgreen Drugstore in Flint, Michigan. Dale was an avid antique collector, he was an “original picker” who loved garage sales and flea markets. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and loved listening to gospel music. He also enjoyed playing the piano and organ and was self taught.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, A.J. Thurman.
