Esther Viscarra, 85, long-time resident of Alamogordo, died Wednesday, February 12, 2008 at her home in El Paso Texas. Esther was born January 23, 1923 to Jose Maria Najera (one of Alamogordo’s founding citizens) and Esther Najera. She married Jesus “Chuy” Viscarra in Oakland CA on April 12, 1943 and was married for 57 years until his death in December of 2000.
Esther was preceded in death by her two eldest children, Clara Rivera of El Paso, TX, Richard “Andy” Viscarra, of Alamogordo and her eldest grandson Daniel W. Rivera. She is survived by her children Daniel Rivera of El Paso, TX; Ralph Edward Viscarra and Carlos Olvera of Denton, TX; Rebbecca Hagins and her husband Dale, of Killen, TX; Fran Viscarra Arellano and her husband Lorenzo of San Diego, CA; Harry Viscarra and his wife Elisa of San Diego, CA; George Viscarra and his wife Paige of Alamogordo, NM; Stephen Viscarra and his wife Janet of Lawton, OK; Susan Parmenter and her husband Dan Parmenter of LaCrosse, WI; and Joseph Viscarra and his wife Linda of San Diego, CA; Esther was also survived by her grandchildren Deborah Rivera, Richard Viscarra, Wendy Moomaw, John Vullo, Erica Perry, Adrian Hagins, Ashley Howard, Eric Viscarra, George Viscarra, Jacob Viscarra, Amanda Viscarra, Caitlin Lambertson, Cheyenne Lambertson, Sara Viscarra, Samantha Viscarra, LeighAnna Viscarra, and Johanna Viscarra and 16 great-grandchildren.
