Esther Louise Seversike, 91, of Ottawa, died Wednesday, August 4, at the home of her daughter, Adelia Reid, in Chenoa, IL. Esther was born July 27, 1919 in Holstein, IA to Herman and Minnie (Stoltenberg) Schroder. She married Lester Seversike on August 3, 1941 in Princeton, MO.
Lester died July 13 1982. Esther was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. She had been a resident of Ottawa since 1946, until she went to live with her daughter last year. She did volunteer work as a Pink Lady, was president of the PTA, was a long standing member of the Ottawa Women’s Club and was later employed by Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Esther and Lester traveled the United States extensively in their early years. Esther was an avid reader, a Chicago Bulls fan and nature lover (especially cardinals and hummingbirds outside her bedroom window).
Esther was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by 3 daughters, Sue Seversike, of Ottawa, Lynne (Jerry) Brilley, of Forsyth, IL and Adelia (Don) Reid, of Chenoa, IL; 4 grandchildren, Martha (Greg) White, of Aurora, IL, Matthew Dethrow, of Naperville, IL, Michael Vernoy, of Henry, IL and Aaron Reid, of Chenoa, IL; 3 great grandchildren, Savannah and Zachary White, of Aurora, IL and Samantha Dethrow, of Naperville, IL; and one sister, Mildred Pilley, of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 sons Michael Lester and Ronald Dean Seversike.
