Esther Denizart Mercado, 81, of 25 Saltonstall Ave., New Haven died suddenly on May 2, 2012. She was the wife of Hipolito Rivera. Born in Las Marias, P.R. on Dec. 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Saturnino Denizart and Ramona Mercado. She was a cafeteria worker in the school system in Puerto Rico before coming here. Besides her husband, she is survived by daughters, Lydia Diaz of North Branford and Santa Rivera in Puerto Rico; sons, Antonio & Angel Diaz in Florida, Reynaldo Diaz of Meriden, Jose Diaz of Bronx, NY and Anibal Diaz of Mass.; son in law, Vincent Rivera; daughter in law, Maria Diaz; 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren as well as several brothers & sisters in Puerto Rico. She was predeceased by a son, Alfredo Diaz.
