Esther Reich, 95, of Marsing, Idaho died of natural causes December 30, 2015 in Nampa, Idaho. She was born December 17, 1920 in Lehr, North Dakota to Magdalena Werre and Christian Ruff. Christian passed away when Esther was an infant. Magdalena later married Jake Goebel and had two more children, Harry and Alice. The family moved to Marsing in 1935, and Esther married Reuben Reich on September 8, 1940 in Caldwell, Idaho.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Pam Herman of Marsing; her granddaughter, Kim Nelson (Sean) of Idaho City; 3 great-grandchildren, Taber, Sawyer, and Ella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister and brother.
Esther loved her family more than anything else in the world. She advised us, looked after us, checked in on us, and kept close tabs on everyone important to her. She loved the people of Marsing and was keeping track of the comings and goings of her community until her final days. Esther’s home was always filled with love and the scent of delicious food, she loved to cook and she was good at it. No one ever left her house hungry and she seldom missed a chance to catch a Cubs game on TV. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Karcher Estates and Encompass Hospice for their kindness and care.
