Estelle May Nichols Lantzy November 23, 1925 – August 8, 2021 Born in Akron, Ohio to Celia Loretta (Christy) Nichols and Eugene Wilbur Nichols, our mother was an amazing woman. She came into the world in Ohio, but after 67 years in Georgia, she could almost pull off a southern accent. She loved art, painting, pets (she had little choice here as we all brought home something with four legs on a regular basis), reading, playing Scrabble and Mexican Train, old black and white western movies, dark chocolate candy, sunsets, the mountains, her little house in the woods, sitting on the porch and watching the birds, telling stories about her life with her younger brothers. But most of all she loved God, family – her children, grand children and great grandchildren. In fact, she loved everyone’s children! She read stories to her children from the time we were born. When she worked at the Clayton County Library for many years she often used one of her story dolls to tell the story. She helped many, many students who came to the library with research for school projects and learned a LOT herself. She was smart, funny, naïve and often gullible. She could beat most people at a game of Scrabble (except for her sister-in-law, Shirley, but she kept trying!) She married Emmet Dwayne Lantzy May 18, 1947. The first child was born in March, 1948 and continued to fill the house with four children in seven years – Linda, Judy, LeRoy and Kathy. She made our birthday cakes with carousels, flowers, animals and many other ‘things’ on them for decoration. Estelle was a life-long Methodist and was always active in the churches she attended, instilling a love of God in her children. She taught her children to love God, go to church, be kind, read, give back and pay it forward. She loved to travel and made trips to Europe, different places across the U.S. and often, just took us on drives around our area down dirt roads we hadn’t travelled before – just to see something or someplace new. Estelle had two younger brothers, Bill and Dick, and loved them dearly. Oh, the stories she could tell from her childhood and young years! She enjoyed her nieces and nephews as much as she loved her own children. If you met her, you loved her! As grandchildren came along, her loving heart just grew bigger to make room for them all. Four children gave her five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. All have benefited in having such a loving, caring Grandma and Great Grandma. Estelle is preceded in death by her husband Dwayne, brothers Bill and Dick Nichols, and son LeRoy. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Junkin (Ronnie) MS, Judy Hill (George) MS and Kathy Wilson (Eddie) Newnan; Grandchildren Coleman Lantzy (NC), Erin Lantzy Johnson (GA), Sherry Wilson Abrams (GA), Lisa Wilson Murphy (HI) and Chris Hill (GA); and Great Grandchildren, Haven and Alana Neal, Nathan Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Aidan Abrams, Bailey Abrams, Lydia Murphy, Abigail Murphy, Caroline Murphy and Samantha Hill.
