Estelle Krist, age 86, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, January 11, 2014. On this day, “Grandma Krist” joined God our Father and her loving husband of 63 years, William (Bill), in heaven. Estelle was born in Bay City, Michigan, and was a long time resident of Semmes, AL.
She is survived by her brother, William Knop, her three children, Carol Druckenmiller (Leon), Mark Krist (Connie), and Lisa Nelson, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren – Billy (Tara) and Drake and Drew Druckenmiller, Jeff (Lesley) and Zoe Grace Druckenmiller, Jennifer Krist, Brandy (Michael) and Nathan Williams, Mark Jr. (Lindsey) and Elle Krist, Julie Goings, Trey Goings, Julia Claire (Ross Bonner), and Michael Nelson.
In the winter of 1980, both Estelle and Bill retired from their jobs in snowy and cold Michigan and moved to a much warmer Mobile to live closer to their children and grandchildren. She loved her Lord and was a former member of Evergreen Lutheran Church in Detroit, Michigan, and a current member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Mobile, AL. For many years, she was very active in AAL (Aid Association for Lutherans) and Holy Cross Lutheran’s Ladies Guild.
