Estefana Medeles Cavazos

December 2, 1936 – February 1, 2021

Estefana Medeles Cavazos was born on 12/2/1936 in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Guadalupe and Maria Medeles. At the age of 8 years old she met the love of her life, Isidro, while carrying the “peregrinos,” a Christmas tradition that would be carried on by generations. Reuniting as teenagers, they married in 1952 and began to grow their family while working the migrant life throughout the United States.Collecting birth certificates in various states, they became a family of ten, four boys and four girls. Estefana dedicated her life to her children and was extremely proud of the adults they became. She aspired to model the views of our blessed mother, Mary and always instilled a strong faith in God with unity amongst her family. She and Isidro also served as Eucharistic ministers through the Queen of Peace Catholic Church for several years. They loved to travel the world, visiting many countries, and fulfilling their lifelong dream of visiting the Vatican in Rome. Blessing the dance floor with her presence and dancing huapangos with her love, their family continued to grow to 23 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren whom she never went a day without praying for every single one. Ensuring they all knew how to read, speak, and write in Spanish she also ensured to make that one phone call every year for their special day. Words could never express how much love she had for her family. The biggest gift she ever gave them was blessing them on their foreheads with the sign of the cross. With her laughter and generous heart, she stayed by Isidros side for 68 years as he stayed by her bed side as she took her last breath. We have physically lost our matriarch but are at comfort knowing she is now in the comfort with our Lord our Savior. As she would always say “Dios te Bendiga.”Estefana is now reunited with her first granddaughter, Georgina Cavazos Perez; great granddaughter, Maria Paola Rodriguez; her siblings, Leopoldo Medeles, Zenida Medeles, Guadalupe Medeles, Ascencion Medeles, and Manuel Medeles, Rebecca Medeles and Jesus Medeles; and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Isidro Cavazos; and her children, Fransica and Gilberto Rodriguez, Johnny and Margaret Cavazos, George and Ruby Cavazos, Melva and Israel Juarez, Adrian and Andrea Cavazos, Patty and Serio+ Portales, Julio and Tencha Cavazos and Chris and Daniel Castillo, who in return dedicated their lives in caring for their parents. She is also survived by her sisters, Lupina Davila, Harlingen and Joaquina Medeles, General Teran; along with numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
