Mrs. Essie Jordan Williams, 92, of Millry, AL passed from this life Saturday, January 7, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Washington County, AL on Sunday, January 4, 1931 to the late Nathan Jordan and Ada Goldman Jordan. She was a member of Lighthouse of Living Faith. She was retired as a Secretary at Washington County Board of Education.
Mrs. Essie’s life was defined by incredible service to others. Her compassion was immense, and she was selfless to a fault. Her time, her talents and her abilities were spent reaching out to meet the needs of her family and friends, She gave beyond her means, and she loved without reserve. She was a true reflection of God’s love. Her greatest passion in life was her love for Christ. In her last conversation with one of her grandchildren, she spoke these simple words of wisdom which applies not only to them but to everyone she held dear, “Love the Lord, do what He says, and you will have a good life.”
Mrs. Williams is preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Ronnie” Williams; parents, Nathan and Ada Jordan; son, David R. Williams; three brothers, Fred Jordan, J. M. Jordan, Charles E. Jordan; three sisters, Laura Sikes, Daisy Loper, Janice Jordan; granddaughter, Caitlin Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Williams Howard (Phillip) of Millry, AL; seven grandchildren, Adam Howard (Deborah), Seth Howard (Whitney), Elizabeth Duvall (Matt), Justin Williams, Andrew Williams (Emilie), James Williams, Nicole Hails (Sean); 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lenell Jordan; special and devoted friends, Dr. Alice Dearmon and Dr. Mary Beth Bailey.
