Espiridion “Piro/Pete” J. Fuentes, 77, won his battle on November 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by family and his wife of 59 years. Pete married the love of his life Santos Arredondo on September 23, 1962. Together they raised five children, Norma, Gabriel, Espridion (Pete), Irma and Fernando.
Pete was born in Alamo, Texas on October 20, 1944 to Espiridion and Dionicia J. Fuentes. Pete was the eldest of four siblings. He quickly became the man of the house at the young age of 12 when the family lost his dad suddenly in a tragic car accident. He became a role model to not only his children and grandchildren but to so many others. Pete was an individual that everyone would call in a time of need because they knew that they could depend on him.
Pete is survived by his wife Santos A. Fuentes, four children Norma Fuentes (Nans), Gabriel Fuentes (Sandra), Irma Fuentes and Fernando Fuentes (Melissa). 10 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, one brother Juan Fuentes, one cousin Espernaza Gonzales and several nieces and nephews that he loved immensely.
Pete was proceeded in death by his parents Espiridion and Dionicia J Fuentes, son Espiridion “Pete” Fuentes, sister Adelina Cervantes and brother Carlos Fuentes.
Pete was born and raised in Alamo, Texas. His father passed away when he was 12 years old, so he only attended school to the 6th grade. He dropped out of school so that he could work to help his mother support the family. At the age of 14 he started to migrate to Idaho with his mom and siblings to work in agricultural work. Three years later Pete made Idaho his home when he and Santos got married. He began working for J.R. Simplot moving lines in 1964. Throughout the years Pete studied very hard and became an electrician in 1968. He continued to be employed by J.R. Simplot until his retirement in 2003.
The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses from Intermountain Health in Burley, Nydia, Sharon and Stephanie. They were amazing!
