Erwin “Sonny” Prietz Jr., age 82, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday February 28, 2022 at his residence. Born in Rahway, New Jersey to Erwin Charles and Evelyn Wooster Prietz, Sonny came to the area in 1967 from Connecticut.
Sonny worked in New York City; was a member of Sugarmill Country Club and Smyrna Yacht Club. Sonny enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and tennis. A very outgoing guy, he loved his social life, his friends, traveling and history. Sonny was fond of art, Indians and the West.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara; sisters, Jean Whalen and Barbara (Bill) Dupre; all of Bluffton, South Carolina; sister in law, Donna Jarus, of New Smyrna Beach; niece, Kim (Tom) O’Connell, of New Smyrna Beach; nephew, Scott (Shellie) Jarus, of Plainfield, Illinois; great nephews, Max Siris and Jonathan Siris, both of Atlanta, Georgia.
