Erwin Carl Wiechert, age 95, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2022, at his assisted living home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was in the loving care of his amazing “angel” nurse, Anna Neiderman, RN, at Legacy Home Health and Hospice. He was surrounded by his loving family and attended to by the gentle and thoughtful caregivers from MorningStar Assisted Living.

He was born July 27, 1927, in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Herbert and Dora Wiechert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Harold Wiechert, Orville Wiechert, and Geneva Grimpo.

Erwin is survived by his daughter, Judy (Arny) Katz, and grandchildren Sheri Pearson (Terry O’Mara), Lori (Steven) Aguilar and their two children, Amberlyn and Ashley, Brenda (Matt) Saiz and their three children, Zachary, Cameron, and Noah, and Jason Katz (Dr. Shana Nisenbaum), all of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his son, Kent (Katy) Wiechert, of Phoenix, AZ, and grandchildren Brian Wiechert and Vanessa Wiechert, of Albuquerque, NM; Ryan (Jenny) Grandi and their four children, Kade, Devynn, Kam, and Kash, of Gainesville, TX; Lisa Lariviere and her son, Lane, of Phoenix, AZ, and son, Trace, who preceded in death; and Lori (Lane) Porter and their three children, Jeramy, Amber, and Jaxson, of Argyle, TX. He is also survived by his daughter, Janice (Bob) Guerrero, of Albuquerque, NM, and grandchild Dr. Jessica (Jeremy) Highfill and their three children, Logan, Maggie, and Beckett, of Jupiter, FL.

Erwin loved his family and was a Christian with a deep faith in Jesus Christ. He loved attending weekly devotions.

Erwin had a love for beautiful things, particularly his many roses that he used to enjoy taking care of. He was very creative. He expressed his talent in designing and building custom homes for a number of years. Erwin had the most infectious smile that everyone loved seeing. He was known for that. His smile brought a lot of joy to many people throughout his life.
