Ervin Park Guymon
May 30, 1935 – May 19, 2016

Park passed away on May 19, 2016 at the George W. Whalen Veteran’s Home in Ogden Utah. He was born to Ervin Richard and Elizabeth (Beth) Mary Park Guymon in Cortez, Colorado. He married his sweetheart, Geraldine (Geri) Leishman on March 15, 1956 in the Logan Temple.

He graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding, Utah. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1956 and a combined Masters and Doctorate in Chemistry in 1964 from Utah State University. Park obtained 7 patents in oil recovery from Vernal Tar Sands and the Great Salt Lake. He researched and developed high grade asphalt.

Park served in the U. S. Army as a 2nd Lt and a 1st Lt with the Niki Ajax Missile Battalion, and as a Captain in the Army Reserves.

Park had many hobbies including horse racing with registered quarter horses, and cattle ranching.

Park was a well loved and respected Chemistry Professor at Weber State University for 43 years.
He also was Analytical Chemist for El Paso Natural Gas Co. He was a committed researcher for oil research in Utah for many years.
