Ervin Lawrence (Larry) KinCannon, 84, of rural Dakota, left us to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on Friday, May 7, 2021.
Larry was born September 7, 1936 in Freeport, Illinois, to Ervin and Andre (Carstedt) KinCannon and grew up around Freeport and Dakota. He graduated from the Dakota High School in 1955 where he helped Dakota win the 1955 Illinois State High School Basketball Championship.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army after high school and was employed most of his adult life as a professional truck driver for Hamler Industries and Kaney Transportation in Rockford, as an owner operator.
Larry married his sweetheart Colleen Hutmacher Bloom on November 21, 1955, in Freeport, IL. Together Larry and Colleen had 3 children, Mary Carol, Lawrence Robert, and Kelley Kay.
Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a veteran, avid biker, motorcycle racer, pilot, and ham radio operator. He was the first licensed ultralight instructor pilot in Illinois and trained hundreds of students to fly. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting, boating, and horses. His greatest joy and top priority was spending time with his family and friends and relatives.
Larry is survived by his daughters Mary KinCannon, Loveland, CO, Kelley (Derek) Boeger, Rock City, IL, and son Larry KinCannon, Mineral, VA., sister, Marjorie Bonham, Edgewater, FL; six grandchildren, Travis, (Jeni) Keith, Mary Elise KinCannon, Laura KinCannon (Paul Hagerling), Michael and Maxwell KinCannon, Lukas Boeger; 3 great grandchildren, Ellie and Raegan Keith, and Jackson Alber.
Larry was proceeded in death by his parents Ervin and Andre, his wife Colleen, his brother Roland (Butch) KinCannon, and his daughter in law Sandra KinCannon.
