Those left to honor Ervin’s memory are his 3 sons, Leonard (Sheri) Stier of Grinnell, Iowa, Irvin (Judy) Stier, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Mike Stier of Winterset, Iowa; daughter, Barb (Robert) Shepard of Newton; his friend and companion, JoAnne Stier; 2 step-daughters, P.J. Mick of Newton and Theresa (Randy) Williams of Newton; his adopted son, Clarence Stier of Texas; adopted daughter, Tammy Stier of Newton; his Foster Daughter, Debbie (Chris) Dickerson of Newton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his 2 brothers, Hollis (Lillian) Stier of Montour, Iowa and Wayne (Joyce) Stier of Osceola, Missouri; 4 sisters, Lois (Lloyd) Eilander of Newton, Catherine (Robert) Lynn of Yuba City, California, Patricia “Tish” (Dan) Lapin of Antioch, California, and Consuela “Kon” (Lewis) Powers; his many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Rick Tatcher and Family.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Donnie Berry in 1973; and adopted daughter, Kassie Lea Stier in 1992.
Ervin worked construction all his life, doing concrete flat work with his brother, Hollis, when he retired in 1997.
He enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
