New Iberia – Errol James Crochet – Born October 31, 1950, to Fernand and Edna Crochet, he was the youngest of 3 brothers.  Errol was called to his eternal home May 19, 2022, at 12:05 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Errol is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Cynthia Dore Crochet, 2 daughters, Nicole Broussard (Philip) and Christie Durand (Robert); 3 grandsons, William Broussard, Hayden Broussard, and Karson Durand.

Errol was preceded in death by his parents Fernand and Edna Crochet. His brothers Eugene and Lynwood Crochet, his half brother Q.B Crochet, and nephews Lee and Keith Crochet.

Errol joined the Army National Guard in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1973.  While serving his country he qualified as a Rifle M16 Expert and received a commendation as a Graduate with Honor of Company D 2nd Battalion, The US Army Medical Training Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Errol worked in the oil field for 30+ years before becoming disabled.

Errol was a huge football fan.  He loved watching the Saints, LSU, and Loreauville High School.  Though he did not have a son he attended every football game possible, even having his wife wheel him into the stadium when he could no longer walk.  He loved hunting with his lifelong friends, Malcom Dugas, John Delcambre, Russel Breaux, and Ricky Thibodeaux. He also loved fishing and planned to go with his friends as soon as he returned home.

Errol fought a long and hard battle with diabetes and the many complications it caused.  The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Gregory Riggs, Dr. Michael Liu, and all the doctors that helped to keep him with his family for as long as he was.  The family would also like to thank the staff of Camelot in Broussard and the nurses on the 4th floor at Our Lady of Lourdes for the care they provided.  Most of all the family would like to thank Tyler Guillory for the extraordinary care he provided, and the friendship Errol greatly appreciated.
