A VERY PROUD AND HONORABLE US Navy veteran passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016. ERNIE LEE CARF age 68 of Holton, Indiana died peacefully with his family and friends by his side. He was the eldest child of the late Charles Cleon Carf and Eleanor Ellis Stephenson. He was born in Madison, Indiana on February 11, 1948. Ernie married Lynda Carol Powell on June 29, 1968, and she still survives at home.
He had attended school at Rising Sun, Indiana. In 1965 he joined the US Navy. His Navy career took him many places. His first set of orders took him to Vietnam. Later, he re-enlisted in the Navy as a CM 3 in the Seabees. His career took him and his family to North Africa for 3 1/2 years. After this tour, he served in other places, including Mississippi, Tennessee, Diego Garcia (an island in the Indian Ocean), and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
