George Erwin Hansford age 93, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 10, 2019 at his home in Arvada, CO.
“Ernie” was born on March 12, 1926 in Tulsa, OK, to Lola (Harper) and Clive (Joe) Hansford, then lived in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Southwest High School.
Upon graduating, Ernie enlisted in the Navy, trained at the University of Chicago as a radio man, and was assigned to a ship bound for the Pacific Theatre, WWII. He served from 1943 through 1946 on LSN 153.
Ernie went on tot become a salesman for the Standard Oil Company, where he met Margaret Postlethwaite, they were married for 65 years. Ernie’s career as a manufacturer’s representative included time with Colgate, Federal International Chemical and Valspar. Upon retirement from Valspar, Ernie started his own business, Hansford Enterprises, which flourished for 10 years. He then worked at Certified Chemical until he was 86 years old.
Ernie was a Boy Scout troop master for several years in the 1960’s, attended community bible study, and was a spiritual counselor at a local nursing home for many years.
