Ernie Clemons, 94, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born, May 9, 1923 in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of Ernest and Clara (Humig) Clemons.
Ernie was a member of the Knights of St. John in Greensburg and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and he was a Hospice Volunteer.
He served in the Army with Company C of the 1874th Engineer Aviation Battalion in WW II. He was part of the liberation of the Philippines and he received 2 bronze stars for his service.
He was married to Betty Blighton on December 25, 1942 and she preceded him in death on December 3, 1993.
He is survived by one son, Jeff (Barb) Clemons, Indianapolis; one daughter, Marty (Tom) Ogden, Greensburg; two grandchildren, Ann (Dennis) Baker and Scott (Natasha) Ogden; five great grandchildren, Harper, Elena, Sean, Andy and Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; daughter, Susan Dawson; brothers, Charles, Otto and Allie Walke; sisters, Bertha Wagner, Blanche Walke; grandchild, Erin J. Dawson.
