Ernesto Leroy Gomez

August 26, 1939 – November 2, 2020

 

Ernesto Gomez known as Ernie, 81, passed away at home on November 2, 2020 in Littleton, Colorado.  He suffered these past few years from chronic back pain and cardiac issues.  Ernie was born in Lafayette, Colorado to Nestor Joe and Pauline Marie Gomez.  He was the oldest of 3 children, Herman Angelo Gomez, and Delores Marie Sandoval.  He is preceded in death by wife Frances Anselma Gomez, son Ernest Arthur Gomez, parents, Nestor J.  and Pauline M Gomez and sister Delores Marie Sandoval.  

Ernie enlisted in the US Navy 1957 serving 5 years and 5 years in the reserves.  He spent time on a destroyer ship and then was stationed in Skaggs Island Naval Station in California and remaining time in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.   During this time, he married his high school sweetheart, Frances Anselma, better known as Ann.  After he was discharged from the Navy, he and Ann settled in Littleton 58 years ago.   Ernie trained as a plumber’s apprentice going on to achieve his master’s plumber license then opening his own business in the early 80’s.  Ernie enjoyed working in the plumbing field until he could not work any longer due to health issues.  

Ernie is survived by his two children, Terri Duran (Ray) and Gary Gomez (Barb), brother Herman A. Gomez (Connie), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
