Ernestine Meadows was born on May 4, 1958, in Akron, Ohio. She was the fourth of six children born to Ernest Mickey and Louella Meadows. Ernestine was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Mickey Meadows, her parents, Ernest Mickey and Louella Meadows, and her brother, Mickey Meadows. Ernestine grew up in Akron, Ohio where she graduated from South High School. After graduation, Ernestine attended the Hammel Actual Business College where she graduated with honors. Immediately after graduation from Hammel, she was employed by the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper, and the Firestone Rubber Company. In 1977, Ernestine moved to Hollywood, California. While in California, Ernestine worked for a graphics design company. Ernestine moved to Denver, Colorado where she was employed by the State of Colorado, most recently, the Colorado Department of Transportation. She received the Colorado State Accommodation of Merit and several employee of the month recognitions. She was an innovator starting the Golf Tournament for CDOT, and she was one of the original participants in the Taste of Soul yearly Black History event. Ernestine was the proud mother of Ernest Mickey Meadows, the apple of her eye, who was tragically killed in 1997. The loss of her son was devastating to her. She leaned on God to bring her through. After much prayer, she took that sorrow and turned it into an unwavering determination to help youth and as many people as possible.
