Ernest Wayne Coulson, 80 of Tinton Falls, N.J. passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022 with his family by his side. Ernest was born in Galax, Virginia to the late Ernest M. and Alma Coulson.
He founded Wayne’s American Gas Station and Repair on Newman Springs Road, Red Bank. With his brother John, he opened Coulson Brothers Automotive of Red Bank on Central Avenue and later moved to Eatontown where they owned and operated Eatontown Getty on Broad Street. He served the automotive needs of his customers for nearly 50 years.

Wayne moved to New Jersey from Galax when he was only 14 years old. He spent some time working for Molecu Wire and Continental Can before opening Wayne’s American Gas Station. He met the love of his life, Ann and they were married in 1961. Wayne was well known in the area for working on cars. He was always buying and selling cars that he worked on and owned several unique vehicles including a 1981 DeLorean. He loved his Lincoln automobiles.
Wayne was predeceased by his beloved wife, Antoinette in 2020 and six loving siblings, Bobbi Jewel, George, JC, Rixie, Jimmy and Mary Lou.

He is survived by three children, David Coulson and his wife June, Tim Coulson and his wife Susan and Lorri Coulson Legere and her husband Rob; three granddaughters, Alexandra, Carlie and Isabelle Legere; and three siblings, Johnny Coulson (NC), Billy Coulson (IN) and Peggy Coulson Kent (CA).
