Ernest V. Stingone, 79, of Danbury, died peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022. He was the loving husband of Theresa (Fresolone) Stingone, of 52 years.

Ernest was born on May 21, 1943, in Roccadaspide, in the province of Salerno, Italy; a son of the late Felice and Onesta (Vitale) Stingone. He emigrated to the US, as a US citizen, from Italy at the age of three in 1946, and settled in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, with his mother, sister, and brother. The family lived with his maternal grandparents, who owned a floral shop. Ernest’s father, Felice Stingone, later emigrated to the US, joining the family in Brooklyn.

Ernest attended New Utrecht High School along with his siblings.

After attending the City University of New York and graduating with a BS in Psychology, he met his wife, Theresa, on a blind date in 1969.  They were married July 11, 1970, in Brooklyn, and were blessed with two children: Genevieve, in 1975, and Christopher, in 1978.

A resident of Danbury for the last 6 years, Ernest was also an accomplished painter who enjoyed working with oil paints, acrylics and pastels, and exhibited his art in shows in Staten Island and Manhattan. Ernest gifted many paintings to family and friends and sold others.  He could often be found playing his acoustic and electric guitars, and piano.

Ernest instilled a love and appreciation of art and music in his children, by taking them to art exhibits throughout their childhoods, and listening to classical music as he painted or worked around the house.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Theresa, and their children, Genevieve Stingone, and Christopher Stingone, his daughter-in-law, Tammy Stingone, and two grandchildren, Sienna and Nathaniel; his siblings, Pasqualina Iacono and Pascal Stingone, and his sister-in-law, Roseann Stingone, and their children and grandchildren.
