Ernest Ray “Bub” Scott, 77, of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2011, at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Jacksonville, the son of William H. and Nora B. Johnson Scott. He married Dorothy Hoots on Aug. 21, 1954, in Hernando, MS and she survives.

He is also survived by five children, James R. (Rita) Rowe, Steven R. (Theresa) Scott and William K. Scott, all of Jacksonville, Fonda K. (David) Watt of Murrayville and Sandra K. Williams of Brighton; eleven grandchildren, Jason (Cheray) Scott of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jennifer (Chris) Sides of Madison, GA, Chad Johnson (companion Jessica Killebrew) of Waverly, Jared Fryman (companion Amanda Kurtz) of Maplewood, MO, Adam Scott (fiancé Allison Evans) of Chatham, Amy Rowe (companion Tim Scroggins) of Jacksonville, Jessica Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Jodi Rowe of Bloomington, Morgan Williams of Jacksonville, Courtney Williams of Brighton and Leah Petty of New Berlin; five step-grandchildren, Heather Balfour, Chris (Crystal) Balfour, and Kelly, Luke and Brian Watt; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Fryman, Carly Eddy, Rigby Scott, Ethan Scott, Brinley Sides, Jayde Scroggins and Jayla Johnson; and one sister, Ruth Jean Glasscock of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hunt, and a brother in infancy, Charles Scott.

Mr. Scott was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. He worked 23 years at J. Capps and Sons, and then worked for the City of Jacksonville Water Department, retiring in 1997. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and a member of Amalgamated Clothing Workers. Bub was an avid fisherman, enjoyed feeding his birds and squirrels, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
