Ernest M. Leon, age 75, passed away peacefully, on Friday, November 20th at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction, CO.
Born November 27, 1939 in Delta, Colorado, he was the son of the late Gustavo and Felicitas (Mendez) Leon. Following graduation from High School, he joined the United States Marines. He served for four years and spent some time in Germany.
He married the love of his life, Priscilla “Percy” Mercedes Aragon, on December 23, 1962. They were a devoted couple who were married nearly 52 years. Earnest and Percy shared the exact same birthday: November 27, 1939. Ironically, their son Clay, was also born on November 27th.
Ernest trained to be a Psychiatric Technician and moved to Grand Junction to work at the Regional Center.
Ernest was preceded in death by both his son Clay, and wife, Percy. Percy passed away just 34 days before Ernest on October 17, 2015.
Ernest was a strong supporter and had a great fondness for the Special Olympics.
Survivors include his brother, Reuben (Julia) Leon of Delta, and three nieces, Becky (Steve) Davis, Helen (Heidi) Bowman and Carmen (Nolan) Hale, all of Grand Junction, CO, 7 grand nieces and nephews, and 3 great grand nieces and nephews, and one expected great grand nephew.
Also left behind, but not forgotten are Buddy, the beagle and Sheba, the cat.
