Ernest M. Dieterle departed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 5, 2016, and was reunited in Heaven with his wife Mary and his youngest son, Warren.
Ernie was born in Santa Monica, California on April 10, 1927, to Earnest and Helen Dieterle. He was the second born, and brother to Al, Jim, John, Tom and Dick, who survive him, along with his sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived in the West Los Angeles area until the age of 12, and only after being promised a pony and all the ice cream he could eat, Ernie agreed to move with his family to Sterling, Illinois.
He leaves behind his six children: Elaine (Dan), Colleen (David), Mike (Linda), Maggie (David), Chris (Janet) and Theresa (Robert), 18 grandchildren (and their spouses), two great grandchildren, and many close friends and neighbors.
The Dieterle family extends deepest gratitude to his extraordinary caregivers, Cristal Paulino and Wilma Andrews, for the love and care they gave to Ernie.
