Ernest Leroy Murphy, 85 of Meredosia, Illinois died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown, Illinois.
He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Clinton, Missouri, the son of James R. and Flora Cecil Gardner Murphy.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Richard (Kim) Murphy of Meredosia, Illinois, Tim Murphy of Colchester, Illinois, Bonita (Mike) Floyd of Bloomington, Illinois, Nancy (Chuck) Schweitzer of Decatur, Illinois, and Sandra (Larry) Harms of Carlock, Illinois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Don (Lorraine) Murphy, Robert Murphy, and Jess (Melba) Murphy, all of Bloomington, Illinois; and one sister, Audrey Lucille Murphy of Colorado. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Eugene Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an avid fisherman.
