Ernest Lee Watkins Sr. was born in Hillsboro, Alabama on July 23, 1937 to the late Jim Sr. and Ethel Watkins. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
He was employed by the City of Decatur Sanitation Department and Rehabilitation Services of Decatur. Ernest enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Among those who preceded him in death are his parents; two sons,Connie Fletcher and Andrea Shackelford; three brothers, Henderson Johnson, Elmo Watkins and Jim Watkins Jr., and one sister, Hedy Hill.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memory 28 children. The known children: Mary Eathel (Labron) Morgan, Nazarene (Sonny) Crawford, Fred Lindsey, Ministers, Pearley (Rev. Willie) Renfroe, Frank (Evelyn) Vinson, Jerome (Angie) Miller, Checlcie Clopton, Theresa Cunningham, Judy Wilson, Wayne Hill, Ernest Lee Jr (Yahshere) Watkins, Jimmy Lee Watkins, Cynthia Johnson; three sisters, Phyllis (Dave) Willingham, Gloria (Billy) Young and Sandra (Kent) Wright; one brother, Wilbert (Edwena) Watkins and a host of other children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a long time devoted friend, Willie Bowling.
