Ernest Lee “Mackie” Jones was born October 26, 1952 to the late Phillip Joe Jones and Donnie Lee Jones in Whiteville, TN. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Jackson General Hospital.
“Mackie”, as he was lovingly known in the community, accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Antioch Baptist Church.
He attended school in the Hardeman County School System.
Afterwards, he became employed with Houston Well Company in Somerville, TN. He later became an employee of Hardeman farmer’s Co-Op. He was a brake and tire specialist for over 26 years and until his health failed. “Mackie” was well known in Hardeman and Fayette Counties for working on brakes and tires.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memories; 6 children; Victor (Adrienne) Alexander, Ernest (Kiana) Morgan, Jennifer (Richard) Holley, Andre Jones, Phillip Conner, Kendre Jones and Karissa Conner, whom he raised as his own, 3 brothers; Marshall (Adrienne) Jones, Eugene (Dorothy) Jones and Leotis Jones, 5 sisters; Lizzie M. Sain, Rosie V. Jones, Earnestine Jones, Ella W. Jones and Maxine Bowers, 17 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Joe Willie Jones, Robert Lee Jones and Willie V. Sain, 2 sisters; Louise Blaylock and Norlean Joy, and one special friend, Angela Conner.
