With sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Ernest Linwood Reed (Bud) on March 19, 2014.  Born on October 16, 1917, in Pennsylvania to Dr. Ernest and Julia Reed, Bud was the youngest of four children.  Early in his life the family moved to Pensacola, FL. where he attended school and upon graduation, joined the Navy.  In his 13 years in the military, Bud served in the Navy, Army, and Air Force.  He attended Auburn University where following in the footsteps of his father, he received a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  He set up practice first in Pensacola then moved to Ft. Walton Beach in 1960 where he continued to practice for the next thirty years, touching the hearts of many humans and improving the lives of many animals.  Bud had a great love of sailing and was a lifetime member of the FWB Yacht Club.  He also served as a past president of the FWB Rotary Club and until recently, was the FWB YMCA’s oldest member.

He is survived by his wife, Monica Derrick Reed; his sons: Roger, Scott, James, and Ernest and his daughter, Terry, his former wife and mother of his children, Frances Reed and Scott, Kristen, and Amanda Derrick, the children of Monica.  He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
