Ernest (Ernie) I. Jandreau, age 93 died May 23, 2016
He is survived by loving wife of 64 years Jeanette, sons William Shearer of Rockledge, (Patsy), and John Jandreau of Secaucas, NJ, (Mary) and grandchildren Tanya O’Rourke (Scott), Paul Jandreau (Kim), Christopher Jandreau, and Theresa Salvatore, and great children Haley, Ava, and Chloe. Nieces Jane Long, Jean Riveria, Janie Essad, and nephew Mickey King.
Preceded in death by brothers Nicholas, Lawrence, and Eugene, sisters Julia and Juanita. Father Charles William and mother Vida Kate.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was in 5 major landings from North Africa to Normandy. In 1958 he moved back to Florida from Detroit, MI where he and his brother Gene opened Harbor Lights trailer park. They later used that land to build the Breaker Apartment complex. He and his brother were instrumental in the formation of the city of Cape Canaveral. He worked at KSC for over 30 years from Pan-Am, Boeing and later retired from EG&G. He and wife enjoyed traveling around the world and throughout the U.S. in their motor home. They finally settled down and spent their summers in Maggie Valley, NC.
He was a long time member of the VFW, Post 10131 and the Merritt Island Moose Lodge. In his spare time he loved to read books on American history, watch NFL football, golf, and the Lawrence Welk Show. His witt and the glint in his eyes will be missed by all who knew him.
