Ernest Fullard was a native of Bishopville, South Carolina. He was born the son of the late Mack Fullard and Claretha Salomon.
In 1954 he migrated to Brooklyn, New York where he has been a resident ever since. He met his life’s companion, the late Thelma Thompson with whom he entered into Holy Matrimony. Together, they raised six children (one of which predeceased him, Joan Fullard).
He was employed for years at the Bullshipper’s Hotel in Brooklyn, New York as a manager. Ernest was known as a sharp-classy dresser, who always aimed to be a perfectionist. One of his favorite pastime activities was to cook-out with friends in “The Garden” regardless of how hot or cold the weather was. He would often give his children sound, wise advice about life.
Ernest developed a passion for singing Quartet Gospel along with his brother, Bishop James Brewer. Together, they became members of several gospel groups, traveling various places, propelling them to be widely known throughout Brooklyn. Ernest was a member of the Five Gospel Tones, Six Gospel Stars, Gospel Soul Savers, and Charlie Storey (nee Billy Walker) and the Allstars. The first song he recorded was “I’ll Be Alright” with the Gospel Soul Savers. One particular song he loved singing and believed was “Jesus Will Fix It.”
On Sunday, January 6, 2019, the Lord called him home. He leaves to cherish his memories his sons: Earnest Thompson (Laverne) of Queens, NY; David Fullard (Shondell) of Charlotte, NC; Michael Thompson of San Antonio, TX; daughters: Claretha Fullard of Newark, NJ; Terry Neeley (Frank) of Queens, NY; Angeleek Johnson of Albany, NY, Sandra Baily-Sandford of Florida, Dee Broomer of Philadelphia, PA, Lachelle Dungee of Brooklyn, NY, Jacqueline Gerard of Winston Salem, NC, his brother: Bishop James Brewer (Elder Ellen Brewer) of Queens, NY; sister and brother-in-law Eunice Lee and Josh Lee of Augusta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
