Ernest Fred Cochran Fred Cochran, age 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 16, 2016 where he resided at Insignia of Newnan. He was born August 19, 1931 in Manchester, GA to the late Ernest Franklin Cochran & Velma Mae Camp Cochran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother Jimmy, his sister Betty Cochran Carlisle, and his brother Paul Cochran. Mr. Fred grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School. He served in the Army in Japan. He retired from Ford Motor Company’s Atlanta Assembly Plant. In his retirement, he enjoyed repairing and restoring cars. Fred was a longtime member of Sargent Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, chairman of the deacons, and many other roles.
Survivors include wife Mary Eleanor Brown Cochran; son, Jerry (Dianne) Cochran; daughter, Sherry Story; brother, Ronnie (Paulette) Cochran; grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Jersey, Melanie Hathcock, Candace (Tony) Newborn, Dianne Lewis, Gloria (Jeff) Braswell; great-grandchildren, Brandon & Katelyn Jersey, Garrett & Lauren Hathcock, Taylor, Cru, Arianna & Lillie Newborn, Katie & Lauren Lewis, TJ & Ethan Cohen Braswell.
