Ernest “Ernie” Leo Piotrowski, 77, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born on May 18, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Richard and Anna (Rajski) Piotrowski. Ernie is survived by one son, Daniel (Theresa) Piotrowski of Brownsburg, Indiana, two grandchildren, Owen and Elaina Piotrowski, his former wife, Denise Sherman and sister-in-law Karen Culver. Ernie was a graduate of both St. Joseph High School and the University of Notre Dame. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for many years as a Revenue Officer with the IRS from which he retired in 2005.
Ernie was passionate about sharing his love of scuba diving with others as a certified scuba diving instructor with PADI and the YMCA. He was an active member of the local Power Squadrons, having served previously as the commander. He spent many of his years at the Washington Park Marina in Michigan City, IN as a boater with his 700 dock family. A member of the Corpus Christi Parish, Ernie lived his life guided by faith. Most of all, he loved being a father and grandfather.
