Ernest Benjamin Glazer died peacefully at home on the evening of Thursday, May 27th 2021.
Ernie was born in Minneapolis, MN, on June 25, 1931 to Bess nee Walzer and Morris Glazer. He graduated from North High School in 1949 and attended the University of Minnesota.
He took over his father’s business, Northern Package, after his father’s death in 1956. He sold the business in 1990 and retired to Arizona.
He married Beverly Johnson in 1951 and had two children, Miriam and Philip Glazer.
He married Louis Schuler in 1975 who brought three children into their marriage: Jane, Robb, and Scott. Louise died in 1978.
He met MaryAnn Rosin Scheibe that same year. They married in 1985 and he gained two stepchildren, Kate and John.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bess and Morris Glazer; his sisters their husbands Rivel and Harold Moses and Dorothy and Bob Rubin. His son Philip and niece Frankee Moses preceded him in death along with his nephew Norman Harris.
Ernie is survived by his wife MaryAnn; daughter Miriam Glazer; stepchildren Kate DeSmidt (Rich Thompson), John Jentz; Jane Schuler, Robb (Michelle) Schuler (Brandon, Samantha, Bentley, Brody, and Bryce), and Scott Schuler; numerous nieces and nephews; granddaughter April (Gary) Lickovitch and three great-grandsons, Jacob, Caden, Colton, and grandchildren Austin, Wyatt, and Mia DeSmidt (Mitch and Aubrey Thompson).
Ernie will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, sharp wit, his love for close friends and family, and especially, MaryAnn, his wife of 36 years. His faithful Maltese, Winston, brought much joy into his life.
He enjoyed lively discussions about politics and history. An avid reader, Ernie’s shelves overflowed with books about American, European, and Jewish history.
Ernie could be gruff at times. Often, it was a challenge to see if you could give it right back to him. Underneath that gruff exterior was a man who felt things deeply and loved fiercely.
