Ernest A. Ferri, a long time resident of Burlington, NJ, and the only son of Ernest and Pauline Ferri, of Beverly, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the age of 70. Mr. Ferri grew up in Beverly, NJ and was a 1959 graduate of Burlington High School. After graduation from High School, Mr. Ferri attended Colgate University, in New York, where he earned a BA degree in history, in 1963.

His experiences at Colgate and his love for learning led him to continue his education and earn a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law, in 1967. Mr. Ferri began his law career with criminal defense and with real estate law. He opened his own law practice in 1972 on East Broad St., in Burlington, where he continued until 2002. He held several positions over the years as a public defender, municipal prosecutor, and solicitor for the various surrounding communities. In the last several years of his career, Mr. Ferri moved his law office to Moorestown, where he concentrated primarily of contracts, trusts and wills, and was the Solicitor for the Burlington Township Zoning Board. IN 1965, Mr. Ferri married his high school sweetheart, Nancy, and raised their two children, John and Steven at their home in Burlington.

He enjoyed his time at home with his wife and children, and encouraged and supported them in their educational pursuits. He was a loving husband and father and role model for his two boys, and he loved being a grandfather to his three grandchildren. Mr. Ferri was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Burlington Country Club where he played golf nearly every weekend. Mr. Ferri enjoyed spending time playing golf with his good friends at his home club, and at golf courses around the country. His favorite golf course was Pebble Beach, in California. In addition to his favorite pastime, he also enjoyed driving, numismatics, the daily crossword puzzle, wife, and watching Philadelphia’s professional sports teams.

In his later years, Mr. Ferri and his wife spent some of their happiest times together at their winter home in Naples, Florida, while relaxing and playing golf, Ernest is survived by his wife, Nancy, his son and his wife, John and Krissy; his son and his wife, Steven and Beth; and his three grandchildren, Joseph, Gianna, and Elena. He is also survived by his mother in law, Vera Ridgway, his cousins and family members, and his many close friends and golf buddies.
