LAKELAND – Erma “LaVerne” Evans, 64, entered her home in Heaven on Friday, July 10th, 2015 while surrounded by family, friends and caregivers. Born September 6, 1950 in Bartow, FL, to Richard and Ermie Newmans, LaVerne was a life-long resident of Polk County. She retired from a 35-year career at the Polk County Clerk of Court’s Office on March 29, 2013.
LaVerne is survived by her husband of 44 years and soulmate, David “Pete” Evans; son, Shawn Evans; sisters, Jan (Don) Jones, Jean (Stanley) Kirkland; brother, Richard Newmans; cousin, Sharon (Jerry) Giddens; her puppy “Bo”; a host of nieces and nephews; and sisters in Christ, Martha, Melinda, Susan, Linda, Jackie and Kim.
