Erma went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on February 11, 2017 at the age of 99, at Overland Court Senior Living in Boise.
Erma was born on December 31, 1917 to Alleen Bybee Hessing and Clarence E. Hessing. She grew up in Boise and went to Park Grade school until the 3rd grade when she transferred to Garfield school. She graduated from Boise High School in 1936.
Erma started her employment in 1936 at the Statesman Printing Company as a part-time PBX Switchboard Operator. She then advanced to the Steno pool. In January 1941, she was hired by the Idaho First National Bank (US Bank).

Erma and Art had 2 children; son Stephen Hunt and daughter Jennifer Hunt Kandler (Mrs. Robert). Erma had 7 grandchildren—Anastasia Rogers (Jack); Holly Loomer (Tony); Lisa Hunt; Bradley Hunt (wife Laura); Mitzi Hunt Lambert (Eric); Greg Hunt (wife Jacci). Four-year-old Brian Kandler passed away in 1982. Erma had 7 great grandchildren– Savannah, Kasiaha, Jayden, Gryphon, Lily, Stella, and Nora.

Erma led a very active life. She and Art were members of the Boise Boat club where all members of the family learned to water ski. Erma snow skied, loved her bowling and golfing leagues, and cooked.
Erma had 2 passions she enjoyed very much and one was sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of her own clothes. She especially loved to make evening wear and used extremely difficult patterns for her fashions.
Her other passion was ballroom dancing. Art and Erma took every opportunity they could find to dance, sometimes dancing 3 to 4 times a week. They were fantastic together.
She was the oldest of 5 children. One brother died at birth. She had 2 brothers, James and Clarence who previously passed away. Her husband Art passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 95. She is survived by her sister Emma Jean Davis (Richard) who resides in Boise.
The family would like to thank the great hospice staff at Keystone and all the staff in the Transitions unit at Overland Court Senior Living who cared for her during the last 2 years.
