Erin Marie Stevens, age 34, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.

She was born on March 23, 1987 in Annapolis, Maryland to Jeffrey and Susan Staton. Erin is survived by her loving husband, Peter Stevens, and daughter, Rose Irene Stevens; father Jeffrey Staton and mother Susan Staton; brother Sean Staton and sisters Lauren Staton and Logan Staton; mother-in-law Cheryl Stevens and father-in-law Jim Stevens; sister-in-laws Allison Pillarella and her family and Laura Webb and her family.

Erin grew up in Glen Allen, Virginia. She graduated from Hermitage High School, where she began to focus on culinary arts in her tech program. She went on to the Culinary Institute of America where she graduated with honors and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Baking and Pastry. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Johnson and Wales. She held many culinary positions around the country, including at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Max Ultimate Food in Boston, Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Plymouth, and Amélie’s French Bakery and Café in Charlotte, where she met her husband Peter. She catered distinguished events including presidential banquets, football organizations in both New England and Charlotte, and private dinners for various prominent members of the community. Despite the large clientele she had as a professional chef and baker, her favorite guests to have around the dinner table were her closest friends and family.

Erin was not only an amazing chef, but she also played many roles in the lives of the people who surrounded her. This is who Erin was to the people who knew and loved her.

A Wife and Mother

From the moment Peter first laid eyes on Erin’s big, beautiful eyes and perfect – sometimes loud – mouth, he knew she was the one. When they first started dating, they would watch cooking shows together from their separate homes and text each other throughout each episode with their thoughts on every dish. Shortly after, they moved in together and Erin was always cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their dogs Grover and Guiness. This was the first glimpse into the joys that married life would bring to the two of them. Whether they were in Boston, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, or, their favorite place, Charleston, they always knew how to find adventure. They loved hiking and camping all while enjoying a little Blanton’s along the way – another reason Peter knew that Erin was the one. As time continued, their love grew stronger and they were engaged and married. They have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Rose, who already embodies the best qualities of both Erin and Peter. Erin will always be a guardian angel to Rose and forever be Peter’s “whiskey in a teacup”.

A Daughter

Erin was the first, miracle child to Sue and Jeff. From the moment that Erin was born, they knew that she was going to take on the world her way and make it a better place. She was a supportive, compassionate, and loving daughter to whom family meant everything. Sue and Jeff couldn’t have been happier when Erin found Peter, because he was the perfect person to celebrate her, love her, and balance out her feisty personality. Her parents were always extremely proud of her for all of her accomplishments and are filled with pride and love for the life that Erin created for herself. To them, she will always be their “Little Boopser”, and Erin will forever be in their hearts.

A Sister

Erin was not only a big sister to Sean, Lauren, and Logan, she was also a role model and a companion. She carved the path for them growing up and always inspired them to find their passion, set a goal, and go after it. Erin had a fiery personality with a mouth to match. She always told them what was on her mind, whether they liked it or not. She always gave the best advice, whether it was how to properly fix their hair for school or how to speak like a true chef both in and out of the kitchen. Erin shared many fond memories with her siblings in their childhood home in Glen Allen, Virginia, and their grandparents’ home in Cape St. Claire, Maryland. They will always remember Erin for her exuberant personality, sarcastic sense of humor, and, most importantly, the love and life lessons that their “Big Sis” graced them with.

A Daughter-In-Law, Sister-In-Law, and Aunty

She was the best daughter-in-law in the world to Jim and Cheryl Stevens; a very special sister-in-law to Allison and Tim and Laura and Matt; and a very special person to the Harrison Family and the Curry Family. Her nieces and nephews, Roxy, Ryder, Clyde, and Vincent, will always remember her as their extra special “Best Aunty Ever”. Erin was always a gracious host for their Family Chowder Cook-Off, where everyone knew to stand back when the crab was served. They will miss her southern charm, beautiful smile, and pastries made with love. Erin will always hold a very special place in all of their hearts.
