Mr. Erich John Grimske, 24, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully under his own accord on Sunday, August 23, 2020. He was born in Elkhart on November 1, 1995 and was the son of Fred J. and Nikki A. (Noffsinger) Grimske, both of Elkhart.

Also surviving is his brother Dominic (Courtney) Grimske of Elkhart; his twin sister McKenna (Ryan Shroyer) Grimske of Mishawaka; grandparents James & Carmelene Noffsinger of Elkhart and Frank & Lois Grimske of Swartz Creek, MI;  precious nieces Emery Grimske and Isla Shroyer and his very special close friend Kylie Beverly of Elkhart. Erich’s loss will also be felt by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and close friends.

Erich was a 2014 graduate of Concord High School and thoroughly enjoyed being an active member of the Minutemen’s Varsity Baseball team. He also enjoyed basketball, slow-pitch softball and even dabbling in golf, but in baseball, he was your typical utility player and everyone knew that when you needed strikes, Erich was your guy.

At the time of his passing, Eric worked in the RV industry, but his interests drew him towards spending time with his close friends and escaping the fast-paced world by trading it all in from time to time for a fishing pole, some bait and a nice, quiet spot to reflect and find peace.

To Erich, his family and his two younger nieces were his universe. He was loving, kind and fiercely loyal, especially when it came to Emery and Isla, and he would do anything to keep those he loved safe and well. He was modest and “unsung”, but the hero that WAS Erich shined through every time he would give a part of himself to make another’s life or situation easier. Throughout his short but profound walk here on Earth, Erich’s unique form of love allowed him to be able to enjoy reaching out to friends or family who needed a helping hand, someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on. He was very down-to-earth and likable, and folks tended to gravitate to him.

Funny and sarcastic, the only thing that Erich loved better than laughing was to make others laugh, and he excelled at doing just that. He always knew exactly what to say to lighten up any moment, and always seemed to have the ability to improve any mood. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan as well.
